Didsbury has the best park infrastructure in South Manchester. Fletcher Moss alone is worth the postcode — botanical gardens, woodland, open lawns, river access, all in one walk. I run regular routes through M20 from Chorlton, a short drive via Princess Parkway.
Didsbury dogs tend to be well-socialised because the area is so dog-friendly — most cafés are dog-welcome, the pubs are dog-welcome, the parks are heaving with sociable groups. That makes group walks work better here than almost anywhere else in South Manchester.

Botanical gardens, woodland trails, the rock garden, and a path down to the Mersey. The most varied single park within a 15-minute drive. Quiet at 7-8am. Genuinely beautiful.
The central park with the Parsonage on it. Open lawns, a good loop, and benches under mature trees. Sociable, busy, great for dogs who need other-dog time.
Long out-and-back along the river. Off-lead for confident recall. Atmospheric in autumn, muddy in winter, perfect in spring.
