Stretford is on the up — coffee shops, the Mall, new builds — and the dog scene has come with it. Longford Park is 51 acres of woodland, open lawn, ponds and hidden pockets. It's the most varied single park in South Manchester and I'll argue that with anyone.
I'm 10 minutes from most of M32. I cover Stretford as part of my regular Chorlton-Stretford route, with Turn Moss and Stretford Meadows as the longer-walk options for high-energy dogs who need more than a 45-minute park loop.

On your doorstep. Big flat playing fields, wide sightlines, sociable off-lead crowd. My most-used spot for group walks. Easy parking on Turn Moss Road.

5-10 minutes away. Circular lake path, quiet mornings, muddy winters. A regular for high-energy dogs.
5-10 minutes into the Mersey Valley. Wooded riverside, off-lead for confident dogs. A quieter alternative to Turn Moss on busy weekends.
